Kellas is an exciting new development coming to Port St Mary on the Isle of Man, involving the restoration of the historic Manxonia House into a cafe, garden, restaurant, bar and pantry.
We are delighted to be able to share a sneak preview of the progress on site so far, as well as tell you all a little bit about what’s been going on behind the bright blue boarding...
The opportunity and vision to purchase and restore the stunning Manxonia House presented itself in 2019, and our initial plan was to open a tearoom and farm shop to showcase some of the incredible range of artisan products the Isle of Man has to offer. This vision evolved further when the adjoining residential property, along with its spectacular garden overlooking Chapel Bay came on the market shortly thereafter and we realised that the opportunity to expand the offering to incorporate a full restaurant and events venue was one we simply couldn’t pass up!
Building works began in earnest in the later part of 2020, with substantial restorative works being undertaken by our team of expert builders and professionals who have helped us to ensure that the essence of this iconic Victorian Manx stone building has not only been fully restored, but preserved and celebrated.
Now in the summer of 2023, we’re on the home stretch with works due to be completed ready for us to open the doors and welcome you all in Spring 2024.
Hospitality has always been at the heart of our family, from our distillery in Sulby, to our recent tenure at Port St Mary Golf Pavilion, and not forgetting Spinnakers on the High Street in Port St Mary in the late 1990s!
